Mobile Social Media Advertising in Tourism: A New Form of Marketing Channel? Tan shared that the usage of mobile social media to advertise tourism products and services has become a new form of marketing channel in the advertising industry. Centre of Business and Management (CBM) had organized a research talk conducted by Ms Lee Jing Wen. Lee shares on how one can start their consultancy profession today. Specifically, the talk covers the various UTAR policies and procedures on how to perform a consultancy project. |
3 | Research talk: The Art and Science of Customer Experience Management Dr John shares about Customer Experience Management (CEM), which is the practice of designing and reacting to customer interactions so as to exceed their expectations and ultimately increase satisfaction, loyalty and profitability. This strategy has been proven successful by many businesses which use CEM to increase the number of repeat customers and improve the bottom-line. Using examples from the hospitality industry, this presentation gives an overview of the art and science of how a luxury hotel chain manages CEM and constantly strives to exceed expectations. |
4 | Research talk: Living a Balanced Life The world as it is now, success is measured by being rich and famous.To achieve this, we must have the 5Cs. Cash, Credit Card, Condominium, Car and Club membership. After 10 years of Research, Dr Wong is convinced that success is not 5Cs but the 7Fs. She redefines success and looks at what the important and lasting things in life really are. Because life is uncertain no matter how well we may plan for it, she urges us to act fast to make the necessary changes in our lifestyles that we may be more balanced and gain true fulfillment. She shared her research and personal experiences to encourage all of us to live a balance life. We spend most of our life running the Rat Race and not the Right Race. |
5 | Research talk: Strategy on Writing a Conference Paper In this conference and journal writing sharing session, Dr. Wong will share his experience and knowledge in writing for the conference and journal. He will also share his experience to avoid the mistakes that he has made. Furthermore he is open for collaboration and will provide guidance on paper submission to two conferences. Those that are interested to get his guidance or collaborate with him should summarize their research work into the below format and the number of pages should be in between of 15 to 20, single space, New Times Roman font 12. |

8 | Research talk: National Economic and Technological Development Zone (EDZ) in China with case study of Suzhou Industrial Park and its implication to Malaysia Dr. Wong Lai Soon has attended a seminar title “Seminar on Building and Management of Industrial Parks for Developing Countries” in China from 08/06/18 to 28/06/18. The seminar was carried out in three locations: the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), Ministry of Commerce, P. R. China, Beijing, in Suzhou Park, Suzhou and in industrial park, Fuzhou. During the seminar, he has learned about the industrial development in the China, how they started the development, the process and their development model that based on the Suzhou Industrial Park that has brought a big part of prosperity to China. In this talk, he shall share his experience of attending the seminar and what he has learned about National Economic and Technological Development Zone (EDZ) in China. |
9 | Research talk: Entrepreneurship training & education in the CUHK MBA Program The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is the oldest MBA Program in Hong Kong and has launched its MBA Program in 1966. Although the Program has been frequently adjusting to the needs of society after its launch, its adjustments were gradual and incremental before 2009. However, the rapid uprising of technology does not allow such gradual adjustments, the MBA Program had introduced entrepreneurship as one of its four concentrations in 2010. It was again the first MBA program that has entrepreneurship as its concentration in Hong Kong. In 2017, the program was further reconstructed to contain only two concentrations: Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and Finance & Technology with a new approach to train students' minds instead of transferring knowledge since 2015. As the Associate Director (Entrepreneurship) of the MBA Program from 2012 to 2016, and the Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship, Prof. Wilton will share his experience in developing the entrepreneurship concentration in the MBA Program and operating an iconic entrepreneurship course in the MBA Program of CUHK. |
10 | Research talk: Entrepreneurship training & education in the CUHK MBA Program The perception of healthcare professionals on safety compliance in Malaysian healthcare sector is at terrified level. Among various factors, human factors are critical for improving safety performance and quality care. The talk will provide the overview on the factors affecting safety performance among healthcare professionals in Malaysia. Moreover, the results were from various departments of medical centers located in Malaysia will provide insights into the provision of safety management program for effective safety performance and quality care. The safety performance among medical professionals in Malaysia could be further improved by promoting safety management programmes. It is recommended that optimizing the work system and encouraging the active and adaptive role of healthcare professionals are key principles for improving safety performance and quality care. |
