Research & Development Colloquium 2018 2.0

Aimed at strengthening the cross-disciplinary research centres, which is one of the initiatives devised under Focus Area 3: Research and Development of the UTAR 10-year Strategic Plan, the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research (IPSR) staged another comeback with “R&D Colloquium 2018 (2.0)” on 24 November 2018 at Sungai Long Campus.

Teochew Puppet Talk & Workshop

The Centre for Immersive Technology and Creativity (CITC) and the Arts and Craft Society with the support of Faculty of Creative of Industries organised a talk titled “Experience the Forgotten: A Talk on Teochew Puppetry” at Sungai Long Campus on 25 January 2018

The event was led by CITC Chairperson Dr Aloysius Yapp. The main objective of the event was to preserve the traditional Chinese Teochew culture which has been gradually disappearing among the society.

The invited speaker was Director of Kim Giak Low Choon Troupe Goh Hui Ling from Penang. The event saw her sharing about the forgotten arts to the UTAR community.

Dr. Aloysius Yapp was the Project Manager responsible for this event along with Program Managers Ang Kok Yew and Ng Perng Jeu. The events Organizing Committee included Goh Kiang Kuan, SohWuu Shyong and Lim Chai Kim. The Art&Craft Society also helped to co –organize the event.

Kuala Lumpur Engineering and Science Fair (KLESF): The Fair 2018 set another comeback at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) from 2 to 4 November 2018 with the aim to encourage school students, particularly the primary and secondary school students’ interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects through various programmes and activities.

Dr. Aloysius Yapp was the Project Manager responsible for this event along with Program Manager Lim Chai Kim. Project members include The events Organizing Committee included Goh Kiang Kuan, SohWuu Shyong, Hafez Bin Zainudin and Nai Vongsuthep a/l Wong Sowat.
