A. Objectives:
  1. Providing a channel for CAP members to present research findings, especially projects funded by UTARRF and Frederick Fund (Lau Hooi Kee Research Fund).
  2. Sharing research areas and knowledge among CAP members and FAS staff, and to discover collaboration opportunities.
  3. Inviting feedback from attendees to improve research quality
  4. Stimulating new research ideas
  5. Training postgraduate students to organize academic seminar


Following the positive responses from participants and presenters, the Centre for Applied Psychology (CAP) once again organised CAP Seminar 2018 on 21 May 2018 at the Kampar Campus. The seminar featured three external speakers namely, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Intan Hashimah Mohd Hashim from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Normala Ibrahim with Dr. Tan Kit Aun from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Dr. Ang Siew Ching from the University of Texas at Austin. A group of undergraduate students from the HELP University was also invited to present their research at the seminar.

Why Scratch Your Head To Write: Let’s Hear The Stories Behind Academic Writing
Date: 24 October 2018
Time: 2pm to 3pm

A forum on research writing was held, where local researchers shared first-hand experiences of their struggles and finding the drive to keep going in academic writing. Undergraduates, postgraduates, and staff attended the forum to get hints for academic writing.

The panellists were Dr. Kok Jin Kuan, Dr. Siah Poh Chua, Dr. Tan Chee Seng, and Dr. Renu Joseph; the panel was moderated by Dr. Chie Qiu Ting and Dr. Teoh Gaik Kin.
