This report presents the consultancy and commercialisation statistics and activities for the year 2014. The consultancy activities have made steady progress over the past years. In the year 2014, the total amount approved has increased to RM1,237,073.23 as shown in Figure 1. This is an increase of 16% as compared to the year 2013. Total number of projects approved in the year 2014 is 292. Figure 1: Total Value of Approved Consultancy/Outside works For the Period 2008-2014 Figure 2 shows the percentage share of consultancy/outside works by faculties. Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) has the largest share at 26.6% of the total approved amount in 2014. This is followed by Faculty of Creative Industry (FCI) at 21.8% and Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT) at 16.1%. Advisory/Consultancy constitutes 50% of all approved projects. This is followed by Training which forms 42% of all approved projects. For the year 2014, UTAR has signed only one agreement which is with ERS Energy
Sdn Bhd for the pre-commercialisation of an energy storage system. In addition to
that, one of the R&D project delivered by UTAR for Construction Research Institute
of Malaysia is now in the process of pre-commercialisation. UTAR has to date 17 inventions which have been submitted for patents at the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO). 4 patent applications were filed in 2014. The newly filed applications are as follows:

In addition to Academia-Industry collaborations, UTAR also aligned its R&D works closely with relevant government bodies such as MSC Malaysia via Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC). There were two projects which have received funding from the ?MSC Malaysia Innovation Voucher? in 2014. The projects are as follows:
Prospect for the Year 2015 The Department of Consultancy and Commercialisation will continue to promote and encourage consultancy and commercialisation works amongst the academia as well as to align its efforts in elevating UTAR MyRA‘s status.
