Chairperson:

Professor Dr. Choo Kong Bung

Description of the Centre:

Established on 1 May, 2011 to coordinating stem cell research in UTAR. The centre aims to promote multi-disciplinary stem cell research activities leading to the advancement of knowledge on the mechanisms of stem cell reprogramming and stem cell differentiation focusing on both basic, clinical and translational aspects of stem cell research, leading to the translation of basic research findings into clinical benefits and improvement in the quality of healthcare in Malaysia.

Research Areas:

  • Development of core technological platforms and facilities for stem cell research.
  • Development of disease models focusing on cancer.
  • Induced pluripotent stem cells.
  • Cancer stem cells
