Tun Tan Cheng Lock Lecture Series

Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Social and Policy Studies (TCLC) of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman proudly presented its Lecture Series with its inaugural lecture on 4 January 2018. The centre’s lecture series was held in honor of Tun Tan Cheng Lock, the founder of MCA and to commemorate his contributions to the nation. The Tun Tan Cheng Lock (TTLC) Lecture Series aimed to provide an avenue for scholars, educators, researchers and intellectuals to meet and discussed diverse issues and challenges facing society and to share their perspectives and expertise in their respective fields of interest. Through this effort, the centre hoped it would be able to contribute to Malaysia’s nation building that in its own way reflect the efforts carried out by Tun Tan Cheng Lock in his lifetime. This inaugural lecture presented two speakers. The first speaker is YBhg Tan Siok Choo who will talk about her grandfather, Tun Tan Cheng Lock. Her talk is entitled “Little Known Facts of Tun Tan Cheng Lock” The second speaker, Dr. Heng Pek Koon delivered a lecture entitled “Tun Tan Cheng Lock: Visionary Founder of the Malaysian Chinese Association and the Malaysian Nation State”. The symposium was successfully held and approximately 200 guests attended the lecture.
