REPORT OF ACTIVITIES

4th UTAR SCiP and 1st UTAR-UST Joint Symposium on Stem Cell Research
3rd to 4th August 2015
Since the establishment in 2011, the Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR), UTAR, has successfully conducted three annual stem cell seminars, and contributed an iPSC session to the 5th Malaysian Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Society (5th MTERMS) Conference in September 2014. To continue with our efforts in bringing together UTAR, local and international stem cell researchers to share their recent findings, 4th UTAR Seminar on Stem Cell and iPSC Research (2015) (4th UTAR SCiP) was organized.

On the same matter, an MoU has been signed in 2014 between UTAR and the University System Taiwan (UST), Taiwan, which includes four prominent national (public) universities, National Yang Ming University (NYMU), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), National Central University (NCU) and National Chiou Tung University (NCTU). In a previous visit by the CSCR Chairperson, Prof. Choo KB, to UST it was agreed in principle to hold joint research seminars on stem cell and other research annually or biannually between the two universities. And UTAR had agreed to hold the first joint research seminar in stem cell research in 2015. In 2015, the 4th UTAR SCiP was held in conjunction with the 1st Joing UTAR-UST (Taiwan) Symposium in Stem cell research. The 2-day event was open to both Malaysian and international participants.
