Centre for Environment and Green Technology

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Workshop
Fundamentals, maintenance and trouble-shooting with environmental friendly refrigerants.

Date and Venue: 7 Oct 2015 (9AM-5PM) UTAR, KAMPAR

Background: Climate change & Global warming are important issues facing the world today. Green Technology is vital for sustainable development to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs. Refrigeration and air conditioning enable comfortable environment for human to work in. Widely used refrigerants which contribute to ozone depletion like the chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) R-12 and the hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) R-22 are being phased out and replaced by hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) like R410A, R-32, R-134a.

Objective: This Workshop is intended to update and upgrade the Technical Skills and Fundamental Knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning with the new refrigerants. It would also provide a common forum for Industries, Researchers, Scientists, Engineers and Practitioners to discuss the developments and applications of environmentally friendly refrigerants to help in the development and improvement of a Green and Sustainable Technology. The Workshop would discuss fundamental aspects of refrigeration and air conditioning and introduce the new alternative HFC refrigerants. Discussions will cover handling these new alternatives and precautions needed during installation and servicing.

The workshop has attracted a number of participants from both higher learning institute and manufacturing industries,
