1 | Seminar talk by Mr. Hachihei Kurematsu from Japan on “Use cases of information communication to achieve SDGs
Open up a New World Together by Medical and Agricultural ICT” We have invited ICP from Japan, Mr. Hachihei Kurematsu to give a talk to the students. The synopsis of the talk is as follow: Japan has undergone a full-scale population decline and a declining birthrate and an aging population, and even in the region, many social issues to be overcome, such as a labor shortage that supports living and a shrinking local economy, have become apparent. Along with this, the production labor force will also decrease, resulting in changes in the social environment such as increased dementia in the elderly, soaring medical costs, and deterioration of infrastructure facilities (water supply facilities, bridges, roads, dams, etc.). In order to solve these problems and revitalize the region, it is indispensable to revitalize the local community and build a safe living environment by developing and utilizing ICT. Examples of ICT utilization based on autonomous ideas and ideas in the region promoted by Japan link technologies such as IoT / sensors, cloud, big data, AI, etc. to local know-how, and not only solve problems but also revitalize the region Many such excellent models have been created and will be a good reference for the development of Asian countries. |

4 | Seminar talk by Ts. Dr. Chew Khoon Hee on “The Myth of Natural Rubber”
Dr Chew Khoon Hee gave a very interesting talk on the processing of latex into rubber various rubber products. The talk content was specifically tailored for chemical engineering students and it contained a lot of new to the student’s information. His rich work experience on the rubber industry provided excellent highlights to our students on the progress and challenges of the rubber industry in Malaysia. Also progress in the research on synthetic rubber was discussed with the students. Overall, the talk was well delivered and managed to provide good outlook on the rubber industry in Malaysia.
