 Activities COSA supported

As a design based research centre, our members devoted substantial effort in promoting sustainable design and thinking through involvement in various design competitions nationally and abroad. With tireless commitment from our members and enthusiastic students, we managed to cringe significant wins and raised eye-brows among architecture fraternity in Malaysia.

1. I-city Facade Design Competition
Team UTAR emerged as Joint-First Prize (with UiTM Shah Alam) at the i-City Façade Design Competition in Shah Alam. Three students took home a cash prize worth RM7,500 awarded by i-Berhad. Their faced design will get to be built within the i-City Ultrapolis in Shah Alam in the near future.

2. 29th PAM (Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia) National Architecture Workshop, 16-19 August 2016, USM
This is a yearly national event organized by PAM, participated by more than twenty-five architecture schools locally and regionally. UTAR entourage consisted of 35 students and 3 lecturers, participated in the 5 days event held in USM, Penang. Out of a total of competing 11 categories, UTAR won 8 of them, which was the biggest win for UTAR thus far since we first participated in year 2013.

3. Liang Si Cheng - International Architecture Competition
梁思成杯首届全球侨乡建筑设计大赛

Three students from UTAR emerged as winners of 我心中的侨乡文化建筑 category, with 1st runner-up and consolation prices in this prestigious international competition. UTAR was the only Malaysian university to compete against entries from US, UK, China, Australia, etc.

4. 11th PAM Annual Architecture Student Works Exhibition 2016
Dates: 5-9 Oct 2016 @ 1Utama Shopping Centre, Selangor
Theme as "FAB:Nation", the event was organized by PAM, held from 7th October 2015 to 11th October 2015 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Selangor. The exhibition aimed to showcase the very best of architectural student works from all Malaysian architecture schools either public or private. UTAR won Silver medal competing with 20 odd local architecture schools in Malaysia.
