World Diabetes Day Health Campaign on the 21st of November 2015
Center for Research on Non-Communicable Disease (CRNCD) collaborated with the Centre for Extension Education (CEE) and Malaysian Diabetes Educators Society this year to organise the World Diabetes Day Health Campaign on the 21st of November 2015.

The event programme reflected this year’s International Diabetes Federations theme: Healthy living to combat Diabetes. The opening speech was delivered by Prof Dr. Shelly Soo, Chairperson of CRNCD. This is followed by two short sessions talk on “Obesity and Diabetes” by Prof Dr. Chin Kin Fah and “Diabetes and Diet” by Ms Poh Kai Ling.

Ms Foong Pui Hing demonstrated and provided two healthy cooking recipes for the audients who agreed that the food prepared this way was healthy and tasty. In addition, there were poster exhibitions and stations for health screening and free consultation for the public on diabetes related matters.

Breastfeeding Week 1st to 7th August 2015
“Breastfeeding and Work. Let’s Make it Work!” was the theme for this year’s World Breastfeeding Week which fell from 1st to 7th August 2015. Ms Jayanthi Marimuthu, a very experienced nursing lecturer, who is a member of World Alliance Breastfeeding Action (WABA) took the lead to conduct a workshop for the female prison wardens at Kajang Female Prison on 6th August 2015. A total of 20 female wardens attended the workshop. Ms Jayanthi presented a very informative talk on breastfeeding, especially for those wardens who were actually pregnant at the time of the talk. The wardens were also shown the way to express the breast milk correctly.

Charity Fund Raising 21st November 2015
CRNCD members, Dr. Shwe Sin, Dr. Kay Khaing Swe and Dr Thinn Yu Aung conducted a fund raising charity by selling food on the World Diabetes Day, organised by Diabetic educator and CRNCD at UTAR.
