Description of Centre:

The Center for Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine (CRTCM) was established in August, 2011. The Centre is presently composed of 8 members, including two professors and one associate professor, five scholars with a Ph.D. degree and a Ph.D. candidate. The Centre will play a vital role to develop Chinese Medicine industry, to promote Chinese Medicine culture, to conduct clinical and fundamental research, and to provide medical services to enhance public health via Chinese Medicine in Malaysia.

Research area:

RESEARCH ON THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF TCM

• Comparative studies of education systems of TCM in Malaysia and abroad

• Studies of the philosophical core of TCM Studies of teaching methodology in TCM

• Comparative studies between the physiological basis of the concepts of Indian Swara yoga and Chinese Yin-Yang
   

CLINICAL RESEARCH

• Clinical research on intervention of TCM in common tropical diseases (In cooperation with relevant professional bodies)

• Database for local medicinal plants
  Intervention by TCM in evaluating the quality of life in patients with malignant tumors

EXPERIMENTAL-BASED RESEARCH

• Efficacy of TCM therapy of “Strengthening Healthy Qi and Expelling Evil Sin (SHQEES)” in the treatment of prostate cancer

• Regulatory mechanism of Chinese medicinal herbs in the healing of chronic skin ulcers

• Multi-target effects of Chinese herbs on tumour cells in medical treatment of cancers
