Emerald Journal Review Competition
A feather was added in Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) tutor Hew Jun Jie’s cap when he won the Emerald Journal Review Competition 2017 at UCSI University on 26 August 2017.
Jointly organised by the United Kingdom-based academic journal publisher Emerald Publishing Limited and UCSI University’s Faculty of Business and Information Science, the inaugural competition’s objective was to expose the participants to the review process of academic journals which is practised by most publishers. The competition also enabled the participants to have hands-on experience in reviewing a research article specified by a panel of experts who are also the current reviewers for the world-leading journals. Hew’s review outshone reviews from 30 over participants.
According to the Commerce and Accountancy tutor, throughout the journal publication process, the review is a critical stage in which the research paper is evaluated for its quality and its suitability for publication determined by the reviewers.
Also accrediting his success to UTAR’s commitment in providing a supportive research environment to the academics, Hew said the university’s many research funds such as the UTAR Research Fund (UTARRF) and the UTAR Research Publication Scheme (UTARRPS) to name a few, were instrumental in his research productivity. This also allowed him to get his research papers published in world-renowned journals, further deepening his interests and understanding in good and impactful research.
